God is GREAT!
How GREAT God IS!!
Most of you know that my husband Bob had open heart bypass surgery June 3 of this year. Praise the Lord he is doing well!
I wanted to share with you all one touching event that happen the evening after Bobs surgery. I will be forever grateful to our Dear Awesome Jesus!
Well, the Doctor had come into the waiting room after the surgery and said to me that Bob had done really good and the surgery went very well!! He then told me that I needed to go home and get a good nights rest and that Bob would not be awake until the next morning.
As I was driving home a good friend of mine called me and asked how it all went? I told her and she then asked me if I had seen him after the surgery? I said no and shared with her what the doctor had said to me. She then said, Patsy I worked on the cardiac unit for 10 years at Kaiser in San Diego and you need to go back to the hospital and see Bob. I said, I can do that? She said yes. I hung up and I called the hospital and Bobs nurse said that I could come back and see him at 8:00 pm. I went home to get a few things and drove back. The hospital was about 40 miles from our home. I got back to the hospital and all the doors were closed except for the emergency department. I told the clerk my circumstances and she let me in. I got to the ICU floor and rang for the nurse, she told me I could stay for two minutes. She said that he was pretty agitated and they needed him to calm down and get his vital signs stable so they could possibly remove the life support (breathing tube down his throat). As I got close to his area I saw all these tubes and IVs coming out of him, which I knew would be there but it was still shocking to see. I asked the nurse if he could hear me? She said yes. I got close to him and I said Bob can you hear me? He shook his head yes! Oh a lump came to my throat……………..I then said, the doctor said you did really good and the surgery went very well……………….I then said you need to clam down so that they can remove the tube that is down your throat…………..I said a prayer with him and the nurse told me to go to the waiting room and she would come get me if anything changed. I went to the waiting room and started text messaging everyone to pray!! About 20 minutes later the nurse came and got me, she said they removed the tube and he can talk now. Oh I was jumping for JOY and praising God. I went into Bob’s area and he was alert and talking, I just wanted to cuddle up next to him in his bed and cry with joy. I started telling Bob how our friend told me that I could come see him after surgery. Bob then said……. it was so great to hear your voice weeger (that’s my nickname). He said he heard someone say earlier what time it was and he was still not sure if he was in surgery. He started to think something went wrong because it was more time then the Doctor had told him. He then said that he was trying to point to his face to get the people to see that his top lip was in between his tooth and the metal breathing tube. He said that the only pain he could feel was his lip hurting really bad. He said that after he heard my voice and I told him that the doctor said all went great and then I prayed, he decided he did not care if his lip feel off, he then quit trying to point at his lip and just stayed quite.
After he told me about his lip, I wanted to break down and cry! Then I wanted to find some shins to kick! I didn’t do either……thank God. The nurse let me stay with him two more hours. I left with the peace of God and such gratitude that it was hard to walk.
As I was driving home I was so grateful to Jesus that I could hardly breathe with emotions!
He always, always, always shows me that I am NEVER alone and that He is always with me. He got me back to the hospital at the perfect time and again had a perfect plan. This perfect plan one more time showed us both how much He cares and is in ALL THE DETAILS!
All the Glory be to God!
Thank you all for your prayers!
Patsy
